The Insinger building at Herengracht 531-537 stands on the Golden Bend, the most prestigious stretch of Amsterdam's canal belt. The property combines 17th-century elements with a structure that largely dates from the early 20th century: during a major reconstruction in 1903, designed by J.P.H. de Man, numbers 531, 533, 535 and 537 were gradually merged into one large office building. It is a listed municipal monument and is known as the office of private bank InsingerGilissen.
Between 1998 and 2000 the interior was thoroughly modernised under Prof. H. Ruijssenaars: the richly decorated, protected front facade was preserved, with a completely new rear building and a bright atrium under a glass dome behind it. The building offers approximately 4,426 m² of office space, 25 parking spaces and its own formal canal garden, a rarity in the city centre. It features 100% LED lighting, double glazing, a hybrid boiler and 100% green electricity; solar panels, heat pumps and an upgrade of the energy label to A+ are planned. Available floor areas and rents are on request.
From Herengracht it is a few minutes' walk to Vijzelstraat, Rembrandtplein and Vijzelgracht metro station on the North/South line, which takes you quickly to Amsterdam Central and Amsterdam Zuid. View more office space for rent in Amsterdam on our website.

Figures for Rembrandtplein e.o., Amsterdam, source: CBS Kerncijfers wijken & buurten
Number of establishments, source: CBS
The Rembrandtplein area in Amsterdam represents a densely concentrated mixed-use urban quarter with 880 residents and 505 business establishments packed into just 10 hectares, creating a vibrant streetscape with a bevolkingsdichtheid of 8,789 people per square kilometre. The neighbourhood is distinctly commerce-led, with trade and hospitality dominating at 210 locations, followed by business services at 95 and cultural or recreational facilities at 80, painting a picture of a lively retail and leisure destination rather than a quiet office zone. This composition reflects the quarter's identity as a public-facing, pedestrian-oriented area with strong dining, shopping and entertainment appeal. For a business considering space here, the exceptional foot traffic, proximity to cultural attractions and hospitality infrastructure offer excellent visibility and customer access, though the low car ownership ratio of 0.2 vehicles per household signals that commercial success depends on strong public transport links and walkability rather than parking. The area suits retail, hospitality or service-oriented operations far more than logistics or heavy industry, and will attract staff and visitors drawn to Amsterdam's vibrant city centre environment.

Office space rent – city Amsterdam
€/sqm per year
Amsterdam's prime office market shows two distinct growth phases. From 2016 to 2019, rents climb steadily from €165 to €185 during stable economic conditions. Covid-19 triggers stagnation in 2020–2021 (€185–€188) as hybrid working adoption dampens traditional office demand. The market then accelerates sharply from 2022 onwards, reaching €343 by 2026. This reversal is driven by three dynamics: (1) rising interest rates from 2023 redirect institutional capital toward real estate underweighting, (2) scarcity of grade-A stock in tier-1 cities constrains supply, and (3) user migration toward premium, well-located office space following the hybrid-work reset. The 108% cumulative growth is heavily skewed toward 2022–2026, reflecting structural undersupply rather than occupier demand.
