Retail fixtures and fittings
Retail fixtures and fittings encompass built-in or fitted elements within a shop: shelving systems, counters, lighting installations, flooring, wall finishes, and the internal layout structure. These differ from loose inventory or portable displays, as they are typically mounted or adapted to the specific premises.
In lease or purchase agreements, clarity on fixture and fitting inclusion is crucial. Rental contracts often specify whether the outgoing tenant leaves them in place or removes them upon departure. In property sales negotiations, it is common to clarify which fitted elements are included or excluded from the purchase price.
Their value and suitability depend on sector and condition: fixtures designed for fashion retail may be unsuitable for a bakery or fitness studio without substantial reconfiguration.
