Floor load capacity

Floor load capacity defines the weight-bearing limit of a floor structure, typically measured in kilograms or tonnes per square metre (kg/m² or t/m²). It sets the boundary for what goods, machinery, or occupancy levels can be safely accommodated on that level.

In commercial real estate, this is a key specification: warehouses need high capacities (often 5–10 t/m² or more) for stacked inventory, standard offices require moderate loads (typically 250–400 kg/m²), and industrial spaces vary widely depending on production equipment or bulk storage. Owners and tenants must verify floor capacity before introducing heavy fixtures, materials, or machinery.
