SME (Small and Medium-sized Enterprise) refers to independent businesses and companies that fall below large corporate thresholds. The European definition sets the limit at fewer than 250 employees and maximum annual revenue of €50 million.

In the commercial real estate market, SMEs are significant occupiers of office, warehouse and retail space. They typically lease smaller floor areas than multinational corporations, require greater flexibility in lease terms, and increasingly seek affordable locations with good accessibility and modern amenities.
