Notary fees

Notary fees are the costs charged by a notary public for preparing, authenticating and registering legal documents in real estate transactions. These include title examination, deed preparation, administration services and registration with the land registry.

The amount is calculated as a percentage of the purchase price, typically around 6% for commercial property in the Netherlands, of which approximately 1% covers the notary's own fee, with the remainder allocated to transfer taxes and registration. Notary fees are standard transaction costs usually borne by the buyer.
